Public Awareness of Selective Mutism
Stryhalová, Nela ; Korandová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Klenková, Jiřina (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with elective mutism. Attention was paid to the definition, symptomatology and speech therapy intervention of this communication disorder, and above all to the analysis of the level of public awareness of elective mutism. Analyzing the level of public awareness of elective mutism was the main research objective of this paper. The motivation for investigating this issue was the fact that there is currently no research survey in the Czech Republic that would map the public's awareness of elective mutism. However, a higher level of public awareness of this disorder has a positive effect on early diagnosis, and early diagnosis positively affects the success of subsequent therapy. The research was conducted using quantitative research, with a questionnaire used as a research tool. The administration of the questionnaire was carried out online, data collection was completed after obtaining 200 responses. The obtained data were processed in the MS Excel program. Subsequently, two predetermined hypotheses were tested, one of them saying that the level of elective mutism awareness dependents on the field of education of the respondents was confirmed. The answers also showed that the majority of respondents are not informed about elective mutism and hold the opinion that the public...
Public awareness and attitudes of teachers to children with ADHD
JANÁKOVÁ, Aneta
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of public awareness and attitudes of teachers towards children with ADHD. The aim of my work was to find out how the public is aware of this issue and what influence the media have on the information provided. I also found out what experience and knowledge have with ADHD children kindergarten teachers. The theoretical part describes in more detail the issue of ADHD, from the beginning of the definition of ADHD to the current concept. The next chapters are devoted to the manifestations, causes and diagnostics of children with this syndrome. The whole theoretical part is completed with therapies that are used for the treatment and alleviation of ADHD symptoms. The practical part is divided into two sections. The first section is focused on kindergarten teachers, where I found out in the form of interviews what their experiences are with the education of children with ADHD and what attitude the teachers takes towards these children. These interviews were subsequently evaluated. The second section is focused on the public, which answered questions related to ADHD and the influence of the media in the form of a questionnaire. All the answers from the questionnaires were processed into graphs and then evaluated. The results showed that kindergarten teachers are sufficiently familiar with the issue of ADHD and know how to approach children with this disorder and educate them. Another part of the results shows that the public knows the issue of ADHD and can imagine what this disorder entails.

Neumayerová, Eva ; Novotný, Martin (referee) ; Pifko,, Henrich (referee) ; Žabičková, Ivana (advisor)
Earth as a building material was known for centuries and widely used in traditional construction. But during the social and economic development, it was gradually replaced by industrially produced materials with more stable mechanical properties. In many countries, the tradition of using earth in buildings had practically disappeared for a long time. In recent decades, the awareness of earth as a building material has increased, especially due to the growing interest of society in healthy living and the quality of the living environment. Despite its many advantages, earth is still not a commonly used building material. What is the position of earth in current construction and does earth have the potential for the future to be more than an alternative and experimental material? What is limiting the development of the use of earth in constructions? This work examines the limits of the use of earth in architecture in the social, economic and cultural context. It analyzes various approaches and ways of using earth in architecture, determines the level of public awareness and the availability of vocational education and examines the situation of the construction market and legislative restrictions in the implementation process. Based on the findings of the survey, this work defines important conditions and possible ways of further development of the use of earth in construction. The content of this thesis is to contribute to the current topic of the development of architecture using traditional materials and materials from renewable resources.

The views of lay public on alternative medicine
Humpálová, Marie ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Kordulová, Pavla (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with alternative medicine, their positive and negative ones. The thesis has two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is based on the description of selected alternative treatments - acupressure, acupuncture, phytotherapy, biotherapy, psychotronics, homeopathy, chiropractic, aromatherapy, chiropractic and phototherapy. In recent years, we have heard more about alternative medicine and it is becoming more and more popular. Alternative medicine represents a significant part of human health care, but it does not have any rules or controls. Medical societies are not confronted with the problem unambiguously. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the opinions of the lay public on alternative medicine. Partial goal # 1 is to map out whether individual types of alternative medicine are in the public eye. Another objective, ie goal 2, is to map out whether alternative medicine is being used, or what methods and the difficulties (determining the treatment phase). A non-standardized questionnaire was selected for the elaboration of the individual objectives, which was applied through the website www.vyplto.cz. The most prominent position in respondents' awareness of alternative medicine is acupressure. The most applied was homeopathy. The most common...
Public awareness of the work of midwives
REICHLOVÁ, Markéta
This Bachelor Dissertation aims to address problems general public has in understanding of a midwife's work and midwifery profession. This is currently a hot topic due to changes in midwifery today. This work concentrates not only on public information about the work of a midwife but also on all wider aspects her work. The main aim is to map the knowledge of current public information about midwifery in general. From that knowledge a question arises: How does general public understands the role of a midwife? Work and role of the midwife is described in the theoretical part of this work and covers a period of known history to present day. A special consideration is given not only to the historical connections but also to the development of educational systems, its past and present, last but not the least, the legislation. A midwife's competences are described in terms of legislative norms currently in place in the Czech Republic as well as roles and activities of professional institutions; another section of the work is devoted to the specific aspects of the profession. This research was focused on finding the existing levels of information and knowledge, in public domain, about midwifery education, the content of a midwife's work and the areas of her involvement in healthcare. A quantitative method of research was chosen as being the most suitable for the purpose of this work. Data was acquired by using a questionnaire. The non-standardised anonymous questionnaire was aimed at adults of both sexes' without age limitations, except for the minimum age limit of 18 years. To maximise the use of the limited available time, both printed and electronic distribution was chosen to run concurrently. The research was carried out during months of February and March 2014. Research sample size was 125, 30 men and 95 women. The result of this research shows that 68 % of participants did not know that a midwife's qualifications are obtained at university, at a degree level. Knowledge ofthe range of work a midwife does is very limited. Most respondents (119) expected a midwife to be present at birth in hospital. Another, rather large section of respondents connects a midwife with care of pregnant women on antenatal courses and with teaching expectant mothers relaxation exercise techniques. A midwife's work is not generally associated with gynaecology, gynaecology ambulance service and care for the newborn. Generally, a midwife is perceived to be a doctor's assistant and helper, not as an autonomous worker making independent decisions in the medical team. It was shown also, that in reality no distinction is being made between a nurse and a midwife. One of the aims of this research was to elicit the perceptions the respondents have about the level of healthcare a midwife can offer; to find if they would be interested in having independent working midwifes and if yes, then in what areas of healthcare. Respondents had only very minimal experience with independent or private midwifes. The research has shown that it is, imperative to improve the information for general public about all aspects of midwifery. Public awareness of this is not very high. This Bachelor Dissertation has highlighted that public knowledge about midwifery is insufficient. Only when people will be sufficiently well informed about the services on offer, have awareness of a midwife's competences and knowledge of all spheres of her work, then midwifery profession will be able to extend and develop more of its services. Everyone needs to know what services are available in order to use them fully. In conclusion, this work is recommended for midwifes in active service it provides an overview of level of information people have about the service, where the weak areas are, and what are current preferred options in midwifery healthcare.
